PROVISION
on children's drawing competition "Holocaust through the eyes of children"
 
1. GENERAL PROVISIONS
1.1. Children's drawing competition "Holocaust through the eyes of children" is held within the framework of the international project "Schools as local centres of keeping memory about Holocaust" among children – the students of five schools from the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland, Hungary and Belarus are participating in the project. The project is implemented with the financial support of the International Visegrad Fund.
1.2. The founder of the competition is the state educational establishment “Secondary School No. 35 named after N.A. Volkov, Grodno” (Republic of Belarus) as a school-coordinator of the project.
1.3. The competition is held in six thematic categories:
1) “The ovens of Auschwitz smoke in my memory” (ideas – the horrors of concentration camps, the horrors of war);
2) “Survivors: the history of salvation” (ideas – facts about the miraculous rescues of Jews, portraits);
3) "Pain carved in stone" (ideas – perpetuating the memory of the victims of the Holocaust, monuments, memorial plaques);
4) "Ghetto: a one-way road" (ideas – the fate of the Jews in the ghetto, their daily life, life, work, living conditions, laws and rules of life in the ghetto);
5) "Unbroken faith" (ideas – the preservation of faith, destroyed synagogues and Jewish quarters, traditions, customs);
6) "Childhood that was not killed by the war" (ideas – a child in the war, children's joys and activities in wartime).
2. OBJECTIVES
- awareness of common tragedy of the Holocaust in European countries by means of spiritual and aesthetic education through children's works of art;
- identification of talented children;
- development of children’s creative abilities, their artistic imagination and fantasy.
3.1. The competition is held in two stages:
- the first (qualifying) stage (from 20 to 25 January 2022).
To participate in the qualifying stage of the competition, until January 25, 2022 inclusively, you must send a photo of the drawing and a completed application form to the e-mail of the project coordinator d.lenkevich@gmail.com indicating the name, surname of the participant in the competition, the age of the participant, the school of the participant, the number of the thematic nomination (optional), the name of the picture (optional), your (or parent's) email address for communication (optional).

- the second (final) stage (January 25-27, 2022) – children's drawings are posted on the project website https://holocaustabout.wixsite.com/project22010014, have their own number, but without specifying information about the author, in order to choose the drawing they like by secret voting.
3.2. Requirements for submitted works:- drawings must correspond to the theme of the competition "Holocaust through the eyes of children";- drawings must be made without the help of parents or teachers;- drawings can be made on any material (drawing paper, cardboard, canvas, etc.) and executed in any drawing technique (oil, watercolor, ink, colored pencils, crayons, etc.);- works must be completed not less than A-4 (210X290) and not more than A3 (420X580);- the number of works submitted to the competition by one child cannot exceed 1 drawing.
4. ASSESSMENT CRITERIA FOR THE COMPETITIONWhen evaluating competitive works at the final stage, the following will be taken into consideration:- compliance of the content of the work with a given topic;- the quality of the drawing;- artistic level of works.
5. SUMMARIZING THE RESULTS OF THE COMPETITIONThe results of the competition will be summed up on January 27, 2022 – the International Holocaust Remembrance Day and published on the project website on January 28, 2022.The winners of the competition at the final stage are determined by the jury, taking into account secret voting on the project website.The jury members, based on the above criteria, evaluate each work according to a ten-point system (from 1 to 10 points).The final score of each performance is determined by summing up the scores given by each jury member. The decision of the jury on the results of the competition is drawn up in a protocol, is final and is not subject to revision.
6. AWARDING THE WINNERSThe winners of the competition are awarded for each thematic nomination – I, II. III places. In case of insufficient number of drawings in a certain nomination, the organizer of the competition has the right to combine the nominations.The organizers of the competition may establish additional nominations and prizes.
